Kano Pillars has reason to celebrate beyond the main senior team this week, as five players from the club's Amputee Football section have earned invitations to Nigeria's Special Super Eagles camp in Abuja ahead of the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.

The players making the trip are Isah Yusuf, Abba Musa, Habu Friday, Emanuel Betel and Usman Ahmed, all of whom have now joined the national squad as they ramp up preparations for the global showpiece.

Jamilu Uba Adamu, Team Manager of the Kano Pillars Amputee Football Team, confirmed the call-ups in an interview with Ashiru Rabiu Gidan Tudu, Information Officer of the Kano State Sports Commission. He said the selection reflects the hard work the players have put in over time, noting their "dedication, discipline and outstanding performances" had not gone unnoticed by national selectors.

Adamu said he was confident the five would do Kano Pillars proud on the biggest stage, adding that their call-up also shows the club's commitment to developing amputee football talent in Nigeria.

The Executive Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Muhammad Tukur Babangida, also sent his congratulations to the players, calling the invitation "well deserved." He said he trusted the players would justify the faith shown in them by the national selectors, and urged them to stay focused and disciplined as they continue preparations in Abuja.

Babangida further assured the players that the commission would continue to back them fully, encouraging them to keep their eyes on the target of making both Kano State and Nigeria proud on the international stage.

The 2026 Amputee Football World Cup runs from November 13 to 22 in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico, with 24 nations set to compete, including seven from Africa.

While attention at Sani Abacha Stadium remains fixed on the senior team's build-up to Saturday's Matchday 9 clash with Katsina United, following a difficult 0-4 defeat away to Plateau United last time out, this news from the amputee section is a timely reminder that the Kano Pillars badge continues to produce talent across different forms of the game, and fans will be cheering on all five players as they target World Cup glory for Nigeria.
