Kano Pillars have moved quickly in their preparations for the upcoming campaign, confirming the appointment of Daniel Ogunmodede as technical adviser for the 2026/2027 NPFL season.
The club broke the news on Friday through a post on their official X account, announcing that a deal had been reached with the coach widely known as Ijaball. "We've reached an agreement to appoint Daniel Ogunmodede (Ijaball) as our new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2026/2027 football season," the statement read. "Welcome to Kano and the Sai Masu Gida family are happy to have you with us!"
The 46-year-old will take charge under a two-year contract at the four-time NPFL champions, giving him a genuine window to build something meaningful at the club.
Ogunmodede arrives with serious credentials. He led Remo Stars to their first-ever NPFL title in the 2024/25 season — a landmark achievement that put him firmly on the radar of top clubs across the country. He parted ways with the Sky Blue Stars towards the end of last season, and Pillars have now moved to bring him to Kano.
He also serves as one of the assistant coaches to Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle, meaning his experience extends beyond club football to the international stage.
After a season that had its highs and lows — including a heavy 0-3 defeat away to Ikorodu City in Matchday 34 and a narrow 0-1 loss at Plateau United on the final day — the appointment of a coach of Ogunmodede's quality signals that the club is serious about going for the title next season.
