Kano Pillars appear close to landing a familiar face for their attack, with forward Sikiru Alimi training with the squad as talks over a possible move gather pace. The 30-year-old, who left Remo Stars for Algerian club JS Saoura in August 2025, has been pictured working with the Sai Masu Gida ahead of a potential switch back to the NPFL.

For Pillars fans, the interest in Alimi carries extra weight because of his history with the club's technical adviser, Daniel Ogunmodede, who managed him during his prolific spell at Remo Stars. Under Ogunmodede, Alimi scored 28 goals, a record that marks him out as one of the league's sharper finishers in recent seasons.

Bringing him to Sani Ahmed Stadium would give the four-time NPFL champions another proven option up front as they push for a strong season. Pillars have already shown they can find the net, with Ahmed Musa, Fabian Nworie Maduabuchi, Rabiu Ali and others among the scorers in a campaign that has produced plenty of goals but also inconsistent results, including a run of five draws in their last nine league outings.

The club will hope Alimi's experience and eye for goal can add more cutting edge going forward, particularly after Saturday's 1-0 win over Katsina United, secured through Ibrahim Yahaya's sixth-minute strike, which arrived just a week after a heavy 4-0 defeat away to Plateau United. Pillars next travel to face Warri Wolves FC on Matchday 10, on 2026-10-25, a game in which a fully fit, in-form squad will be vital.

Nothing has been finalised yet, but the sight of Alimi training with the team will excite supporters who remember his goal-scoring exploits at Remo Stars. If the move goes through, it would be a reunion that both player and coach may be eager to continue building on at Kano Pillars.
