Kano Pillars continued their steady climb up the EUROMATCH NPFL table after beating Nasarawa United 2-0 in Kano on Sunday, a result that pushed the Sai Masu Gida into fourth position with 18 points from Matchday 11.

Ibrahim Yahaya broke the deadlock in the 15th minute, and Fabian Nworie doubled the lead in the 65th minute to seal all three points for the home side. The win extended Pillars' unbeaten run to three matches, following their 1-0 victory over Katsina United and a goalless draw away to Warri Wolves FC.

Head coach Daniel Ogunmodede spoke about the demands that come with playing in front of the Kano Pillars faithful, who he says expect nothing less than victory in every outing. He explained that the pressure from supporters, even when the team leads comfortably, reflects the kind of hunger he wants to see from both players and fans. "The good thing is that we are adapting gradually to it," he said.

On how his side approached a tricky opponent who sat third on the table before kickoff, Ogunmodede detailed the tactical plan that unsettled Nasarawa United. He said the team used inverted wing backs in the opening 20 minutes to confuse the visitors' full backs, which opened up space in central areas, though Pillars failed to convert a couple of early chances. In the second half, the gaffer noted that his side shifted focus to the wide areas and could have scored more than two goals but were wasteful in front of goal, despite facing a compact and well-drilled Nasarawa side.

The Pillars boss stressed how important the result was for the club's standing and morale. "We knew what it means to win this match, because it boosts our position in the table, it will calm down the nerves of our fans and also cool the pressure on the players," he said. He added, "So I'm happy we got the maximum three points and not just the three points but with a clean sheet."

With confidence growing after back-to-back positive results, Kano Pillars will be eager to carry this momentum into their next test when they travel to face Kun Khalifat FC in Matchday 12 action on Saturday, 8 November 2026.
