Kano Pillars recorded an impressive 2-0 victory over nine-time champions Enyimba at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Matchday 31, with Chiedozie Okorie and Ahmed Musa on the scoresheet.
Okorie broke the deadlock as early as the 11th minute to give Pillars the perfect start at home. The former Super Eagles captain Musa then made sure of the three points just before the referee's whistle for half-time, finishing off what was a commanding performance from the Kano side.
The win continues what has been a strong run of form at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Pillars have now won their last two home matches without conceding, having also beaten Barau FC 1-0 in Matchday 29. With a trip to Bayelsa United coming up on Matchday 32 on March 29, the team will be looking to carry this momentum on the road — though away form has been a trickier matter this season.
Elsewhere on Matchday 31, Enugu Rangers confirmed their position at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League table after a 2-0 win against El-Kanemi Warriors. Daniel Itodo opened the scoring nine minutes before half-time, with Godwin Obaje adding a second 11 minutes from full time. Fidelis Ilechukwu's side now sit on 54 points from 31 matches.
Remo Stars came from behind to beat Kwara United 3-1 in Ikenne. Ibrahim Yahaya put the visitors ahead on 34 minutes, but Ahmed Akinyele levelled just two minutes later. Goals from Hadi Haruna and Victor Mbaoma then sealed the win for the hosts.
Plateau United got the better of Bayelsa United 1-0, with Farouk Umar netting five minutes into the second half. Warri Wolves and Bendel Insurance shared a goalless draw in Ozoro. Katsina United also picked up three points, beating Shooting Stars 1-0 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium through Elijah Akanni's goal in the 66th minute. Kun Khalifat and Ikorodu City played out a 2-2 draw.
