Kano Pillars Technical Adviser Daniel Ogunmodede has commended his players for their tactical sharpness and attacking intent after the team beat Nasarawa United 2-0 in their Matchday 11 fixture of the 2025/2026 EuroMatch NPFL season.

The win was significant not just for the three points but for what it represented: Nasarawa United arrived at the game sitting third on the league table, yet left Kano without scoring, as the Sai Masu Gida defence held firm for a clean sheet.

Ogunmodede was full of praise for his players' approach, revealing that the team deliberately used inverted wing-backs in the opening 20 minutes to unsettle the Nasarawa United full-backs. He explained that this tactical switch opened up space centrally, though his side could not convert all the chances that came from it. "In the first 20 minutes of the game, we tried to use our wing-backs inverting, and that created a lot of confusion for their full-backs. It gave us enough space in the central areas of the field, and we had a couple of chances which we should have taken one of them," he said.

According to the coach, the team adjusted again at the start of the second half, this time shifting focus to the flanks to stretch the opponents further. He believes that approach also worked well and that Pillars could have added more goals to their tally before the final whistle.

Ogunmodede did not shy away from acknowledging the weight of expectation that comes with managing Kano Pillars, admitting that the demand for victories, especially at home, is part of what defines the club. He also spoke about the fans' appetite for goals, noting that even a two-goal cushion is not enough to satisfy the Sai Masu Gida faithful. "Most of the time, we play with so much pressure here. Obviously, we want to win, and our fans want us to win every game. We know what it means when we are leading 2-0 and they still want more. But for me, that is the kind of hunger I want from the spectators and from the players. The good thing is that we are adapting gradually to it," Ogunmodede said.

The coach also had kind words for Nasarawa United, describing the Solid Miners as a well-organised and technically gifted team that made the contest difficult for his players.

The result continues an encouraging run for Kano Pillars, who go into their next game unbeaten in three matches following a 0-0 draw away to Warri Wolves FC and this latest win over Nasarawa United. The Sai Masu Gida will now turn attention to their Matchday 12 fixture against Kun Khalifat FC away from home on November 8, 2026, as they look to build on the momentum generated by their improving form.
