Kano Pillars technical adviser Mohammed Babaganaru has given supporters a direct message ahead of the club's final match of the season: the Sai Masu Gida will not be going down.
Speaking to reporters, Babaganaru said the squad is fully locked in on the task ahead. "We are focused, determined and optimistic of surviving relegation by the last match of the season," he said. "Our fans must also remain calm, prayerful, and continue believing in us. God will definitely do it for us."
The statement comes after Pillars climbed to 10th place on the table following last weekend's 1-0 home win over Warri Wolves — Rabiu Ali's first-half goal on Matchday 37 proving just enough to collect three points. The result offered some breathing room, but the club is not yet safe.
Everything now comes down to Matchday 38 on May 24, when Pillars travel to New Jos Stadium to face Plateau United. It is a high-stakes fixture for both sides — Plateau United also need a positive result to secure their own top-flight status, which means there will be no shortage of motivation on either end.
Pillars' recent home form has given reasons for confidence. The four-time champions have won their last three games at Sai Masu Gida Stadium, including a 4-0 demolition of Bendel Insurance and a 2-1 comeback victory against Rivers United. However, away performances have been a concern this season, and Jos will demand a much stronger road showing than some recent outings.
