Kano Pillars fans have every reason to celebrate after their side thrashed previously unbeaten Doma United 4-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday, in one of the club's finest displays of the 2026/27 Euromatch NPFL season so far.

The result was made even sweeter by the fact that two of the club's most experienced campaigners, 45-year-old captain Rabiu Ali and 33-year-old Ahmed Musa, were both on the scoresheet, proving that age is truly just a number when it comes to their contribution on the pitch.

Pillars started the Matchday 4 clash with real intent and got the breakthrough in the 19th minute through Abdullahi Musa, who gave the home fans an early reason to cheer. The lead was doubled in the 32nd minute when Rabiu Ali, showing why he remains such a key figure in the dressing room, calmly finished to make it 2-0.

Doma United, who had arrived in Kano unbeaten all season, hit back through Sadiq Rilwanu in the 53rd minute to reduce the deficit and give themselves hope of salvaging something from the trip. That hope did not last long, as Ahmed Musa restored Pillars' two-goal cushion in the 77th minute, once again proving his enduring value to the team since his return to the club. Nasiru Salihu then wrapped things up with a stoppage-time strike to make it 4-1 and send the Sani Abacha Stadium into celebration.

For a club with such a rich history, seeing veterans like Ali and Musa still delivering big performances will delight the Sai Masu Gida faithful. Musa, who scored six league goals for Pillars in the 2025/26 season, continues to show he can still be relied upon in front of goal, while Ali's longevity at 45 remains one of the most remarkable stories in Nigerian football.

This victory ended Doma United's perfect start to the campaign and will give Pillars real belief heading into their next test. The team had earlier shown good form with a 2-2 draw away at Kwara United on Matchday 1, courtesy of goals from Abdulraheem Shola and Rabiu Ali, before following it up with a 3-2 home win over Niger Tornadoes on Matchday 2, with Friday Ubong and a Fabian Nworie Maduabuchi brace doing the damage.

Kano Pillars will now look to carry this momentum into their Matchday 5 fixture away at Inter Lagos FC on 23 September, as the Sai Masu Gida aim to keep climbing the table with the same fighting spirit that has powered them through the opening weeks of the season.
